Wedding Reception Timeline

Whether the reception is at the afternoon or evening the format is all same except the time. Proper management of every program like food, dance on the time is the best way of successful reception.

Cocktail Time (from 5 to 5.30): It lasts for hour. Photographs are taken of couple and guests. The hot and cold drinks, breakfast are enjoyed over here. Everyone interact with each other. Basically it is the formal affair.

Bridal Introduction (5.30 to 5.45): Bride comes along with her father. And father introduces her to the attendants in the background of peaceful music.

Couple Introduction (5.45 to 6): The bride and groom are introduced to the guest with guests wishes them best wishes.

The Toasts and Cheers (6 to 7): Parents of the couple thanks to every guests and expresses their feeling about the newly wedded couple. Couple also thanks to everybody for helping them. On the occasion, everyone cheers along with fantastic music like classic Beatle songs. The bridal intro, couple introduction and toasts program lasts for almost an hour.

Dinner/Lunch (7 to 8): Announcement for the dinner or lunch is done according to the time afternoon or evening reception. Maximum two hour will be enough for the food with wide range of delicious items. You should announce the timing of next function in advance so that everyone will not waste the timing in chatting.

Dance, Music and Fun (8 to 10): The fun element commence in this section with the dance and music. The bride and groom will start to dance followed by guests. Different types of music with DJs or bands inspire attendants to dance. Two to three hours will be enough or the dance and enjoyment.

You can add various games like scavenger hunt for add the fun element in the reception. This section will become more fantastic then. Don’t add the drinking in the section as it will be stretch the time.

Cutting the Reception Cake (10 to 10.30): Now it is the time for taste some sweet. Cutting the cake, distributing it along with other sweets desserts will be good. Exchanging the gifts can take place in this section.

The Farewell (10.30 to 10.45): The last program to thank guests with the small speech with saying goodbye to everybody will end the reception program.

Thus the six hour reception is best. You can change the timings per function according to your convenience. But six to eight hour is the ideal timing for any reception.
